End-tidal carbon dioxide EtCO2 monitoring is a non-invasive, convenient, real-time, and continuous functional monitoring indicator. With the miniaturization of monitoring equipment, diversification of sampling methods, and precision of monitoring results, EtCO2 is being increasingly utilized in the clinical work of emergency departments. 

Currently, there are still many confusions regarding the selection of EtCO2 monitoring methods and their clinical applications. Therefore, this consensus is established with the aim of standardizing and enhancing the understanding and clinical application of EtCO2 monitoring in the field of emergency medicine in our country.
